Kane paint portrait.jpg

This is the final portrait of my dog, Kane, that I created on Adobe Illustrator. I first began by getting a clear reference picture of my dog, and then uploaded it into illustrator. I then created each piece/color by going through and hand selecting points to form the different shapes around his face and body. Then I color matched the shapes to the reference photo, so I could get it as accurate as possible. I thought it was really difficult to navigate all of the layers, since it would get confusing which shape/color was on each layer. I like how I made jagged edges on the edges of some of the organic shapes because it represents hair, and makes the image more interesting and detailed. For the background color, I went with a dull yellow because we got Kane in the fall time, and he is such a happy dog so I thought a muted yellow would represent these things well. I ended up adding the pillow he was laying on in the original picture because without it, it looked like he only had half of a body and was floating on the page. Overall, I really enjoyed doing this project because it was very relaxing, and will be printing this image out for my mom since she loved my portrait of Kane!
