I created a concert poster for one of my favorite artists, Hozier. I started out this whole project by first making a collage of all of his previous concert posters. From there, I began to brainstorm different color palettes, settings, and basic ideas of what would accurately portray his music. I drew up three ideas, and from those chose my final design of a woman sitting alone in a boat on a peaceful lake. I chose to stick with darker blues and greens since almost all of his album covers used cool colors. He also includes a lot of natural elements in his album art, so I decided to create a body of water surrounded by trees to give off the same feeling. For the "branding", I made his name into the shape of the moon, and outlined it with other details (like location and time of the concert). I colored my entire brand name white too so it would contrast more with the dark sky, and create emphasis. I do like how my poster came out, but don't like how misshapen and thick some of my lines in the drawing. The hardest part of the project was trying to get as much detail as possible into my design, while still trying to block off specific areas that I knew I would want to add color to later. It was fun to learn a few new techniques on Adobe Illustrator, and watch my drawing become digitized. Overall, this project helped me step out of my comfort zone, and try a new style of art I normally don't get to experience.
